Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation in Northeastern Pennsylvania
Closed-cell spray foam can help insulate and air-seal difficult residential assemblies, especially when framing is shallow, surfaces are irregular or a continuous air-control layer is needed. Attis Insulation serves homeowners, builders and renovators in Wayne, Pike and Monroe counties and surrounding northeastern Pennsylvania communities.
We evaluate the assembly before recommending a material and thickness. Spray foam is not the answer to every insulation problem; the correct choice depends on the location of the thermal boundary, moisture conditions, code requirements, access and budget.
Where we install closed-cell spray foam
Exterior walls and existing-home renovations
Closed-cell foam offers substantial insulating value within limited cavity depth. It can be useful in opened 2×4 exterior walls where conventional insulation choices are constrained. We evaluate framing, sheathing, drying potential and the applicable assembly requirements instead of assuming one product solves every issue. See our wall insulation service.
Unvented roofline and attic assemblies
In an appropriately designed unvented roof assembly, spray foam may be installed at the roofline to establish a thermal and air-control boundary. This is different from a vented attic, where the typical thermal boundary is the attic floor and the roof ventilation path must remain functional. Condensation control, required insulation levels and assembly details determine the scope. Explore attic insulation.
Crawl-space foundation walls and rim joists
Closed-cell foam can insulate and air-seal suitable foundation walls and rim-joist areas in a properly designed enclosed crawl space, with separate attention to ground vapor control and humidity management. Learn about crawl-space encapsulation.
Underside of floors and additions
When the crawl space remains unconditioned, installing insulation at the underside of the first-floor assembly may be appropriate. We assess access, existing fiberglass, utilities and moisture before spraying. Visit our underfloor spray foam insulation page.
What spray foam does—and does not—do
When properly specified and installed, closed-cell spray foam provides both thermal resistance and an effective air barrier at suitable thicknesses and substrates. Actual R-value depends on the product and installed thickness. Foam does not repair bulk-water leaks, structural deterioration, unsuitable roof assemblies or every source of indoor humidity. Thermal bridging through framing also remains relevant.
Our approach
- Assessment: We inspect accessible surfaces, framing depth, air leakage paths, moisture concerns and existing materials.
- Written scope: We identify application areas, proposed product and thickness, preparation, exclusions and required protection.
- Installation: Our crew prepares suitable substrates, protects adjacent areas and installs the specified foam.
- Review: We check coverage and address applicable finishing, inspection and occupant re-entry instructions.
