Fiberglass Insulation for Homes in Northeastern Pennsylvania
Fiberglass remains a practical and cost-effective insulation material when it is matched to the building assembly and installed carefully. Attis Insulation installs fiberglass batts in accessible framing, blown-in fiberglass in attics and dense-pack fiberglass in suitable enclosed wall cavities.
Three fiberglass solutions for different projects
Blown-in fiberglass for attics
Loose-fill fiberglass can provide even attic-floor coverage around framing and obstructions, particularly after accessible air leaks are addressed. We determine the target R-value and installed depth based on the project, preserve ventilation clearances and document the scope. We also offer complete attic removal and re-insulation.
Fiberglass batts for open framing
Batts are useful in new construction, additions and exposed renovation cavities with adequate space. Correct cutting, alignment and fit around wiring, plumbing and framing are critical. Fiberglass is not by itself an air barrier, so the enclosure needs appropriate air sealing.
Dense-pack fiberglass for enclosed walls
Existing homes often have enclosed wall cavities that cannot be treated like open new construction. In suitable wall assemblies, dense-pack fiberglass may be installed through carefully planned access openings, avoiding a full interior demolition. The cavity must be assessed for obstructions, moisture conditions, material suitability and an achievable installation density. Learn more from our wall insulation page.
Insulation and the building’s thermal envelope
Fiberglass slows heat flow through the spaces it fills. The assembly’s performance also depends on the continuity of insulation, thermal bridging through framing and a separate effective air-control layer. Poorly fitted insulation and unsealed penetrations can leave comfortable living spaces exposed to unwanted heat transfer and drafts.
Where fiberglass makes sense—and where spray foam may be better
We commonly propose fiberglass for vented attic floors and well-defined framing cavities. Limited-depth 2×4 wall retrofits, exposed underfloor assemblies and certain unvented rooflines may call for a different approach. Attis also installs closed-cell spray foam, allowing recommendations based on the assembly rather than a single material.
Our fiberglass installation process
- Evaluate accessible existing insulation, cavity dimensions, air sealing and moisture conditions.
- Choose the appropriate fiberglass product, R-value and installation approach.
- Prepare access, protect ventilation paths and address the included air-sealing work.
- Install and review coverage, depth or fit according to the written scope.
